People talk about breast cancer. They talk about hope. They talk about pain and suffering, treatments and medications. They talk about the loss of hair, strength, and spirit. People talk about surgeries and scars. They talk about fear.
But they don’t talk about money. People don’t talk about the cost of breast cancer. About how your benefits will run out before your cancer is gone. About how millions of dollars are raised in the name of breast cancer, yet those diagnosed struggle, not to survive, but to afford to survive.
People don’t talk about that. But we do.
The Causemetics Mantra
We want to help women with breast cancer. Not someday. Today. Because the rent is due. Groceries need to be bought. Car payments. Hospital parking. Lost wages during treatment and recovery. Even beauty products add to the cost of living. Despite billions raised to find a cure, many of the 23,000 Canadians diagnosed this year need financial help right now. That’s why we’ve partnered with Canada's leading skin care and cosmetic companies to assist those who can’t afford to be sick. We give the proceeds of our sales to help breast cancer patients through the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund, and we only work with products that are 100% natural and free of toxic chemicals and carcinogens, so they’ll do you some good too.
CausemeticsTM started with Donna Sheehan, Founder and Executive Director of the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund. As a survivor herself, Donna knew firsthand how breast cancer takes a financial toll – and she also knew her organization needed a sustainable plan and a consistent revenue stream to provide the best support. Inspired by the philanthropy of Bill Baker, founder of Consonant Skincare and long-time supporter of CBCSF, Mark Francolini, Creative Director, Donna and Bill collaborated to develop the idea for CausemeticsTM and Cheil advertising agency has been bringing the idea to life.
As the roster of participating companies continues to grow, so too does the money raised - and the hope that Canadians living with breast cancer can focus on getting better.
